Understand the Marking Scheme
Every CBSE question paper comes with a marking scheme. Download and study previous years' marking schemes — they tell you exactly what key points the examiner is looking for. Missing one keyword can cost you half a mark per question, which adds up significantly.
The Art of Answer Writing
Presentation matters more than most students realize. Here are non-negotiable rules:
- Structured answers: Use headings, subheadings, and bullet points for long answers.
- Diagrams: A well-labeled diagram can earn you 1-2 bonus marks and makes your answer stand out.
- Key terms: Always underline or bold important terms — it signals confidence to the examiner.
- Clean handwriting: If the examiner struggles to read, they may not award full marks.
Subject-Specific Tips
Physics: Show all steps in numerical problems. Even if the final answer is wrong, you'll get step marks.
Chemistry: Balance equations properly. One unbalanced equation loses the full marks for that question.
Maths: Always verify your answer if time permits.
Biology: Draw large, clean diagrams. Labels should be written with neat lines.
Revision Strategy for Boards
With 3 months to go, here's how to structure your revision:
- Week 1-4: Chapter-wise revision with notes
- Week 5-8: Full syllabus revision + sample papers
- Week 9-12: Previous year papers + weak chapter drilling
