Organic Chemistry is Logical, Not Random
Many students view Organic Chemistry as a collection of random reactions to be memorized. This is the biggest mistake. Organic Chemistry is a highly logical subject based on electron density and stability.
How to Study Organic Chemistry
- General Organic Chemistry (GOC): This is the foundation. If you don't understand Resonance, Inductive Effect, and Hyperconjugation, you will struggle with every subsequent chapter.
- Reaction Mechanisms: Instead of memorizing 500 reactions, learn the 5 fundamental mechanisms (SN1, SN2, E1, E2, Electrophilic Addition). 90% of reactions in NEET follow these.
- Named Reactions: Keep a separate notebook for named reactions like Aldol Condensation and Reimer-Tiemann. Review it every 3 days.
The Secret of "Mapping"
Start creating conversion maps. How do you go from an Alcohol to an Alkene, then to an Alkyl Halide, and finally to a Carboxylic Acid? If you can draw this map from memory, you are ready for NEET.
